Regulator (supervisory authority)

Definition

The authority that supervises a financial institution and checks that it operates lawfully.

What it means in practice

The products on the list are supervised in different countries: the Polish banks by KNF, bunq by De Nederlandsche Bank, Wise by the National Bank of Belgium.

Why it affects your choice

It shows who supervises the product and in which country — a trust signal.

Watch out

A different country of supervision does not mean "less safe", but the guarantee/protection of funds may follow that country's rules.
