Transfer from Poland to Ukraine — cost and delivery time comparison

Data from official sources · No login required · We do not sell placement · Order: alphabetical, not a ranking · How we verify data

Sending money from Poland to family or to an account in Ukraine? Ukraine is outside the SEPA area, so two routes are available: cash collection/mobile money, usually within minutes, and a transfer to the recipient’s bank account. Cost and delivery time depend on the amount, method and provider — confirm the values below with the provider before sending.

From an account at a Polish bank (SWIFT) — fee according to the fee schedule

A SWIFT transfer goes to a bank account, not for cash collection, and usually takes 1–3 days. Fees come from bank fee schedules; the exchange rate is usually based on the bank’s rate table, including a spread. This is an actual, disclosed price — unlike cash transfer services, which show the cost only for a specific transaction.

Fintechs with transparent pricing — published pricing model

These fintechs disclose their pricing model in advance (exchange rate + fee), so the cost can be calculated before sending — unlike Western Union, MoneyGram or Remitly, which show the full cost only for a specific transaction. The values shown are source-based pricing models, not per-transfer amounts, which depend on the amount and currency.

How much does a transfer to Ukraine cost — what makes up the total cost?

The total cost consists of the provider’s fee and the FX spread (the difference between the interbank rate and the provider’s rate). Compare both — a low fee combined with a worse rate may cost more. See also: international transfer fees, interbank rate.

Delivery time — what does it depend on?

Cash collection and mobile money usually take minutes. An account transfer takes from minutes to 1–2 business days; a traditional bank SWIFT transfer takes 1–3 days.

Security — are funds protected during the transfer?

Funds in transit are not covered by a deposit guarantee — neither the Polish BFG nor a foreign DGS. Payment institutions use safeguarding (segregation of funds), which is different from a deposit guarantee. See also: bank vs EMI.

Frequently asked questions

What is the cheapest way to transfer money from Poland to Ukraine?
The cost depends on the amount, delivery method and provider, so we do not identify a single “cheapest” option. Compare each provider’s pricing model (fixed fee, percentage fee and FX spread) and confirm the final cost with the provider before sending.
Can I send cash for collection in Ukraine?
Yes. Some providers, such as Western Union, MoneyGram and Remitly, offer cash collection — a common method for corridors outside the SEPA area. Confirm available methods and delivery time with the provider.
How long does a transfer from Poland to Ukraine take?
Cash collection and mobile money usually take minutes. A bank account transfer typically takes from minutes to 1–2 business days. The exact time depends on the provider and method.
Do I need a PESEL number to send a transfer?
A PESEL number is usually not required solely to send a transfer — the provider verifies your identity using an identity document. Confirm the specific provider’s requirements at the source.
WTP Finance is for informational purposes only — we do not act as an intermediary in concluding agreements, handle funds or provide financial advice. Always confirm corridor availability and terms with the provider.

1 PLN = 12,25 UAH Reference rate (NBP): as of 2026-06-17. A starting point, not a provider price.
From a Polish bank there is usually no direct PLN→UAH conversion. The transfer usually goes in EUR or USD (SWIFT), and the recipient bank converts to the target currency — an extra conversion step. This does not necessarily mean a higher cost — but it is worth checking: in which currency the transfer arrives, at what rate the recipient bank converts it, and whether intermediary-bank fees may apply. Compare the final amount the recipient will receive.
